A Japanese man who took secret footage of women showering at a Melbourne backpackers hotel has been jailed for at least two months.
Takuya Muto, who is studying in Sydney, on Thursday pleaded guilty to three charges after he was caught filming under a shower cubicle at Melbourne’s All Nations Backpackers Hotel on Tuesday.
On the same day Muto took a photograph up a women’s skirt at the Australian Open.

There are not laws at the national level in the USA (unsure about Canada), but the states and provinces have various levels of offense and punishment for conviction of this type of activity. Generally, if you take any pictures of someone in a private area (such as home or even public water closet), you are commiting an offense. If you take pictures with "obvious" intent to highlight the private areas of persons (crotch, arse, or breasts of women) on the street, you are commiting an offense. The punishment will vary in the different states or provinces, from monetary fine to time in the jail. Do not know what the laws of Mexico are. Just a warning for anyone that this activity is getting a lot of attention particularly in the USA.
